I haven’t been keeping track of the rumours so this came to me as a complete surprise yesterday! Apparently Arashi plans to film a third Pikanchi movie, to be called Pikanchi 2.5 (Life is Hard Tabun Happy). Since it’s kind of a sudden thing, it will not be a full-feature film, hence it being 2.5 instead of 3. (This means that maybe there will be a Pikanchi 3 in the future??? One can only hope!) Because it’s not a full-feature film, there will be no new single accompanying the movie release.
The movie will feature the kids all grown up in their thirties, mostly married and/or with kids. From what I’ve gleaned on twitter and LJ, Chu’s (Sakurai Sho) story is the saddest, since his wife (Mizukawa Asami) will have left him in this movie, taking their kid with her. Even in Pikanchi Double his story was the one that affected me the most; I want Chu to find happiness with where life takes him! Anyway, Shun (Aiba Masaki) sounds like he’s doing okay, having started his own noodle restaurant called SHUN-men. Haru (Ohno Satoshi) will have married his first love (the older woman from the first two movies) and have a kid with her, while Bon (Matsumoto Jun) falls for a married woman in Okinawa, and supposedly makes her leave her husband (not so sure about this part) and Takuma (Ninomiya Kazunari) travels the world as a musician, leaving a string of illegitimate kids along the way.
I love all the movies they’ve done together (not really including Saigo no Yakusoku, which was a special, not a movie, anyway), and while Kiiroi Namida is my favourite, there’s a special place in my heart for thePikanchi movies. They’re hilarious and sad at the same time, and I love the way they portray the characters’ friendship. The tickets will start selling at Lawson for 1,500yen according to the official site, and the movie will show at only one theater (Tokyo Dome City Hall) throughout August 2014. I’m already checking to see if I could go, but right now the AirAsia prices aren’t that good ((-__-).
