Arashi no Shukudai-kun #041

Aired On: July 16th, 2007

ans-41The guest for this episode is Ueto Aya, so I was looking forward to the rewatch. She had requested Arashi to report on dishes made from eggs, which was the homework given to the audience. The first dish was egg chips – sliced boiled eggs fried in salad oil. Ueto Aya said that it tasted like fried eggs, while Ohno didn’t like it, saying that it ought to be saltier. Next, Aiba introduced coffee with egg yolk (instead of milk). This, they seemed to like – it tasted just like milk coffee, according to Ueto Aya, and Jun said it was refreshing. The third dish was boiled eggs served in different colours. They looked cute, but in the end they’re just boiled eggs. The fourth dish was soumen noodles, but dipped in raw egg instead of the usual broth. Everyone agreed that this tasted bad, until they added some of the broth to the egg, improving the taste.

During the image segment, the submitted entry said that they imagined Ueto Aya being recognised in a supermarket, and starting an autograph session. She said that she doesn’t get recognised, even in the train. She asked if Arashi got recognised, but Ogura-san pointed out that Ohno was the only one that took the train. Ohno commented that Pasmo was amazing – it seemed like Pasmo was only introduced in 2007! I guess this explained a lot – when I was there in 2007 I remember Pasmo advertisements plastered all over the place, and that it wasn’t interchangeable with Suica the way it is now. She also talked about what she did on the filming set for Kinpachi-sensei, mentioning a few Johnny’s that were in it with her, and Nino revealed that he had auditioned for the season before her’s, but didn’t get the role.

For the third segment, they did the “backwards sketch” thing, in which they film a sketch entirely backwards, down to the dialogue. After, they would reverse the tape and see how it went. Nino and Ohno did one sketch as an example, after which Ueto Aya and Aiba tried a different one. Aiba was a bit hard to understand after the rewind, so Ohno and Nino did the same sketch again. Finally, MatsuJun and Ueto Aya did a “backwards love story” sketch which sounded funny in the rewind.

I think that after a long break from the Shukudai-kun rewatch, and watching many, many episodes of Shiyagare (I’ve been watching it on a weekly basis lately) the earlier Shukudai-kun episodes just seem way too short, and of course, low-budget (because it is). It’s amazing that they were doing this way back in 2007, though!
